Hilary Thompson
Hilary Thompson brings a new facet to the Speedball Fitness team with her extensive background in dance and personal training. As a dancer and choreographer for over 12 years, she has studied and trained in hip hop, jazz, ballet, modern, African, salsa, and ballroom dance all over the world. Her training in choreography and teaching comes to her naturally and works well with all levels of dance and dancers. Combined with her personal training, her knowledge of the mechanics of the body and how movement affects it, she is equipped and ready to contribute to the fitness world. Hilary strongly believes that dance, combined with fitness is the key to a happier and healthier lifestyle.
Since her early years in school, Hilary knew dance was going to play a large role in her life. After dancing for the Hong Kong Dancers in China throughout high school, she studied at University of Colorado where she concentrated on dance studies. Studying and performing all over Colorado opened her eyes to a larger world of dance, eventually leading her to New York City, center of the dancing and performance world. As an intern at Broadway Dance Center, she trained under the most influential and world-renowned choreographers, and worked her way up to assisting choreographers and finally becoming a choreographer herself.
While dancing, Hilary continued her love for fitness and joined the Equinox Fitness team as a personal trainer where she could further her knowledge of the industry. At Equinox, she was introduced to the Speedball Fitness team, leading her to co-creating the new fusion class FUnk FUze with Steve Fienberg. Together they combined Hilary’s hip-hop background with Steve’s martial arts background to create a class that puts the two forms of movement together.
Hilary also participated in many sports activities throughout the years. She was an avid basketball player in high school, playing varsity her freshman year. And, while at the University of Colorado was a member of the CU Club Tennis team, participating in 3 years of nationals in Florida.
